They will keep for a long time that way, just store them in ziplock bags or canisters. I have basil, Italian parsley, rosemary, thyme and mint (which can be very invasive if not controlled!). And I didn't really get to plant much this year (bad knees) but next year, God willing, I will do tomatoes and peppers in containers on the deck. I love love love green beans, cooked al dente, then chill, then put garlic, oil, a little vinegar. String bean salad!
